The curled edges 50, Fig. 1, of a web 46 are uncurled by passage between pairs of opposed discs 12 having separate teeth 14 of flexible material, e.g. of rubber. Alternatively, the teeth may be moulded in a disc of rubber or plastic attached to the disc by removable fasteners (not shown). The discs may be inclined as shown in Fig. 5 by means of spherical bearings 30, Fig. 5 (not shown), within clamps 28, such that the teeth mutually engage, to remove curl, over a desired sector. Movement of the web in the direction indicated in Fig. 1 rotates the discs in the directions indicated by the arrows. The discs may be adjusted laterally of the web to suit varying widths of web. |
