READ OPERATION DELAY

A storage device may be configured to determine a delay associated with execution of a read operation responsive to a read command for data stored at the storage device. The storage device may send a notification that indicates the delay, that includes data that indicates a duration of the delay, or both. In response to receiving the notification, an access device may be configured to generate a second read command for redundant associated with data stored at the storage device.

a non-volatile memory configured to store data; and a controller coupled to the non-volatile memory, the controller configured to:
receive a read command from an access device, the read command comprising a request for the data;detect a pending operation of the non-volatile memory, the pending operation delaying execution of a read operation responsive to the read command; andsend a notification to the access device prior to completion of the pending operation, the notification indicating that a delay related to execution of the read operation is greater than or equal to a threshold.
