摘要 Simulation of process control environments, including dynamic properties, with a modified first-order Taylor series expansion. By using more linear calculations, a physical dynamic property is approximated in less time and with fewer computing resources. By adjusting the approximation to introduce curvature, a physical dynamic property is represented over a wider range than with basic linear series expansions. A comparison to a basic linear first-order series expansion identifies conditions when a rigorous update of a dynamic property is needed.

A method of controlling at least one device in a continuous process, comprising: simulating, using a simulation module, the continuous process based at least in part on a dynamic equation representing a dynamic property of the continuous process; determining, using a local module, a super-linear approximate value of the dynamic property, wherein the super-linear approximate value is based at least in part on only first-order derivatives of a series expansion of the dynamic equation and is automatically updated over the continuous process; determining, using the simulation module, a solution for the dynamic equation based at least in part on the super-linear approximate value; and controlling one or more devices comprising the continuous process based at least in part on the determined solution.
