383,858. Thermionic valves. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Charlton, E. E. ; 6, Phoenix Avenue, and Relyea, W. I. ; 301, Campbell Avenue, both in Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) March 30, 1932, No. 9151. Convention date, March 30, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] A cathode, particularly for high-voltage rectifiers, consists of a compact helical filament 5 supported inside a molybdenum, tantalum, or tungsten anode 2 by a strong helical member 9 of coarse pitch, which acts as a current lead for the cathode and shields it from the electrostatic attraction of the anode. A weight 11 removes the resonance vibration frequency of the filament from the frequency of the exciting current, ordinarily 60 cycles. |
