338,060. Clerget, P. Jan. 11, 1929, [Convention date]. Single-acting suction-valveless piston pumps; regulating delivery by opening suction and delivery valves.-A fuel injection pump for internalcombustion engines is mounted in a fuel tank i and has a cylinder b movable in respect of a fixed rod k mounted in a guide head h on the tank. The end of the rod k constitutes the cylinder bottom, and its diameter is equal to, greater than, or smaller than that of the piston a which is reciprocated by a tappet e against the resistance of a spring d. The diameter of the rod k may be chosen so that the cylinder reaction may be used to rectify the effect of the play in the driving mechanism. The inlet c is arranged in the side of the cylinder, and regulation is effected by adjusting the cylinder by means of an arm I mounted on a shaft I<1>. The discharge takes place through the rod k past a spring-pressed ball j<2> to a conduit k<2>. A number of pumps may be arranged in the tank i.
|
