Rocking seats; sliding seats; reversible seats. _An armchair comprises a substantially arcuate member forming the seat and back parts, A<1> A, of the chair, slidably supported on guides secured to the. main frame of the chair, so that when the occupant exerts a pressure on the seat or back, said arcuate member will automatically move to a position which affords comfortable support. Fig. 1 shows such a chair, the arcuate member A<2> being carried by brackets D, D<1> and rollers E. E' from the curved guide. B, while in the construction shown in Fig. 3, the member A<2> runs on guide rollers D, D'. Additional transverse supports H, H' may be provided, and the seat may be secured in one position by a catch F, E<2>. In one extreme position the back A becomes the seat, and the seat A<1> becomes the back, the chair then acting as a reversible chair.
