1. Device for repairing or locally reinforcing an elongate body which has a modified integrity, to wind one or more layers of a pre-impregnated polymerizable band around the elongate body, the device comprising:
a fixation apparatus for removable fixation around the elongate body, a spool of pre-impregnated polymerizable strip, and a mechanism for causing rotary and translative movement of the spool around the elongate body, resulting in the winding of the pre-impregnated strip around the body, the mechanism comprising:
a support structure;an assembly for rotary movement of the support structure around the fixation apparatus, andan assembly for longitudinal movement of the spool of pre-impregnated polymerizable strip relative to the support structure, whereby the support includes an apparatus for limiting the movement of the spool to a predetermined course, and whereby the spool can be unwound when subjected to a specified tension.
