Disclosed are an ultrasonic apparatus for displaying one of an ultrasonic image, an external image and a composite image thereof by recognizing the position of eyes of a user, and a control method thereof. The ultrasonic apparatus includes a storage configured to store an external image of an object, an image processor configured to generate a composite image by registering an ultrasonic image of the object with respect to the stored external image, a recognizer configured to recognize a position of eyes of a user, and a display configured to display one of the ultrasonic image, the external image and the composite image of the ultrasonic image and the external image, based on the recognized position of the eyes of the user.

1. An ultrasonic apparatus comprising:
a storage configured to store an external image of an object; an image processor configured to generate a composite image by registering an ultrasonic image of the object with respect to the stored external image; a recognizer configured to recognize a position of eyes of a user; and a display configured to display one of the ultrasonic image, the external image and the composite image based on the recognized position of the eyes of the user, wherein the display is further configured to display the composite image based on an opacity ratio between the ultrasonic image and the external image, which is used for performing the registering and which corresponds to a sightline of the user which is determined by using the recognized position of the eyes, and wherein the opacity ratio is determined based on a difference between the determined sightline and a predetermined reference line.
