TEST DATA FRAMEWORK

Described herein is a test data framework. In accordance with one aspect, the framework creates a test data container that stores test data corresponding to one or more attributes of a business object. The framework may further create a test metaobject instance corresponding to the business object, wherein the test metaobject instance defines associations with the test data container and the business object. The test data container and the test metaobject instance may be sent to a test system for creating one or more instances of the business object that reflect the test data.

1. A method of managing test data, comprising:
creating, by a development system, a test data container that stores the test data corresponding to one or more attributes of a business object; creating, by the development system, a test metaobject instance corresponding to the business object, wherein the test metaobject instance contains a reference to the business object and the test data container which corresponds to the business object; sending, via a transport, the test data container and the test metaobject instance from the development system to a test system; copying, by the test system, the test data from the test data container to a database in response to activation of the test metaobject instance; refreshing, by the test system, a buffer with the test data from the database; and executing, by the test system, a software application test based on the test data retrieved from the buffer.
