a stator comprising a plurality of pole pieces; a plurality of electrical windings associated with the pole pieces, each winding comprising a cable including an electrically conductive element; and a lossy insulative material located between the electrical windings and the associated pole pieces wherein the lossy insulative material comprises an electrically insulative material having a bulk resistance that electrically loads an equivalent electric resonance circuit comprising a parasitic capacitance between said pole pieces and said electrical windings to one of a critically damped or an overdamped condition. |
