Provided are a method of preparing an alkanol and a device for preparing the same. According to the method and device, economic feasibility and stability of a preparation process may be enhanced, and mass production of an alkanol may be performed.

1. A method of preparing an alkanol, comprising:
reacting a compound of Formula 1 with a compound of Formula 2 in the presence of a raney nickel, wherein the raney nickel is present at a content ranging from 50 to 500 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the compound of Formula 1 and wherein the compound of Formula 2 is a secondary alcohol: wherein R1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or an alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, R2, R3 and R4 are each independently hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or an aryl group having 6 to 24 carbon atoms, and at least one of R2, R3 and R4 is hydrogen.
