A monitoring device for a water-based fire sprinkler system includes at least one computer device configured to perform one or more of the methods disclosed herein. A sprinkler component for a water-based fire sprinkler system includes one or more detectors for detecting one or more parameters of a water-based fire sprinkler system and/or one or more field-adjustable settings, and a communication interface for outputting one or more signals indicative of the one or more detected parameters and/or for receiving one or more control signals from another device. The sprinkler component may be configured to adjust one or more field-adjustable settings in response to receiving one or more control signals. Additional methods, devices and systems are also disclosed.
