313,966. B÷hme Akt.-Ges., H. T. June 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Sizes.-Aqueous emulsions of oils, fats or other substances for use as sizes are prepared by the use as emulsifying agents of mixtures of certain esters of sulpho fatty acids and organic colloids such as albumens, glues, or decomposition products thereof, or alkylated celluloses or other polysaccharides. The esters employed are esters of aliphatic or aromatic alcohols or phenols with sulphonated hydroxy or unsaturated fatty acids or glycerides of such acids. Esterification may take place in either or both the sulpho-group and the carboxyl group. Esters of the higher alcohols or phenols may be rendered more soluble by the addition of a lower aliphatic alcohol, e.g. 10 per cent of ethyl alcohol. Specification 306,116,. [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is referred to.
