Stains are removed from fabrics by the vapour of a volatile solvent in presence of an adsorbent separated from the fabric by a thin cloth or leather. For example, stained crepe-de-chine is laid on a marble slab, the stain is covered by chamois leather, a 50-50 mixture of fuller's earth and bleaching charcoal held together by the minimum of benzene is spread thereon, and the whole is covered with felt and loaded with weights for 20 minutes. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the cleansing of wallpaper, and the use of paper or any porous material in place of the chamois leather. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
