<p>A small-pox vaccine lymph is prepared by cultivating the virus of small-pox on a medium comprising meat juice, degraded albumen (peptone or an amino acid), salt and sugar, sufficient sodium silicate or alkali carbonate to neutralize the mixture, a hormone selected from the hormones of the pituitary body, the thyroid gland or adrenal capsule and active elements from a bird's ovum during the process of hatching, i.e. embryonic ectoblast tissue and plasma of the choroid urethral membrane. Legal vaccine lymph is cultivated in a medium prepared as above, e.g. for ten days, the product is filtered and glycerine of carbolic acid is added.</p> |
