[Class 16] An index card or sheet carries along each of two or more of its edges a plurality of recesses and an unrecessed portion, intermediate of, or in continuation of the recesses, the recesses and unrecessed portions being so arranged that a number of the cards may be stacked in different groups indicating different categories, in such a way that the unrecessed portion of one group will be visible through the recesses of other groups, whereby the different categories in the stack are easily discernible. The card A carries notches in the first three of four positions on its upper edge and in the first, second and fourth on its lower edge, so that by reversing in two directions the arrangements of notches in groups A<1>, A<2>, A<3>, A<4> can be produced. One corner e of each card is cut or rounded off. The portions of the cards visible through the notches may carry indicia and be perforated at k for " needling," or the marginal portions may be differently coloured. A square card carries seven notches on all four edges, each edge being unnotched in a different position, thus giving eight classification groups, by successive rotations through a right - angle and by reversing. |
