342,979. Internally - fired boilers. WOOD, G. A., 7924, Riopelle Street, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. May 22, 1930, No. 15759. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii).] An upper water chamber 21 surrounding a horizontal internal flue A, and a lower water chamber 66 surrounding a horizontal outlet flue 70 are connected by a number of pairs of plates 29 closed at the sides to form water passages. The furnace gases pass down from the internal flue through the spaces between the pairs of plates to the outlet flue. Baffles 71 on the plates direct the flue gases in a sinuous course. The escaping gases are directed up and down by baffles 42 between the plates 48 of a heat exchanger, through which air for combustion passes. The heated air is led to the combustion chamber through passages 81. Liquid or gaseous fuel is delivered through a burner into a cylindrical combustion chamber 50 closed at its inner end and perforated on its upper side.
