The sensor may include nanowires comprising Pd, and the sensor may sense a change in hydrogen concentration from 0 to 100%. A device may include the hydrogen sensor, such as a vehicle, a fuel cell, a hydrogen storage tank, a facility for manufacturing steel, or a facility for refining petroleum products.

A sensor, comprising: a network of nanowires, and an ohmmeter or an integrated circuit, electrically coupled to the network of nanowires, wherein the nanowires comprises Pd, each nanowire has a thickness of at most 20 nm, each nanowire has a width of at most 20 nm, the nanowires each comprise a first layer, and a second layer in contact with the first layer, the first layer has a thickness of 2 to 4 nm, and the second layer comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of Cr, Ti, Ge, Mo, Au, Ni, alloys thereof and compounds thereof.
