A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a data arrangement control program that causes a computer to perform a process comprising: updating grouping information about grouping of data sets stored in a storage device, based on access information about access to data stored in the storage device and memory loading information about data loaded and held in a memory according to access to data stored in the storage device; and updating data arrangement in the storage device according to the updating of the grouping information, wherein the updating grouping information includes updating the grouping information based on relationship information between data sets according to the access information; and wherein the updating grouping information includes: updating, when a relation is detected between a first data set and a second data set which are held in the memory and belong to different groups, and a sum of a size of a first group to which the first data set belongs and a size of a second group to which the second data set belongs does not exceed a threshold value, the first and second groups to a third group including data sets belonging to the first and second groups; and increasing the threshold value when the relation is detected, the sum exceeds the threshold value and all data sets belonging to the first and the second groups have been accessed while being held in the memory, and updating the first and second groups to the third group by using the threshold value increased.
