A loudspeaker damping assembly can mechanically damp or isolate a loudspeaker transducer from a mounting surface. The damping assembly can include a loudspeaker housing or frame that receives a loudspeaker transducer, and a flexible, deformable, or conformable flange damper extending outward from an edge of the loudspeaker housing. The flange damper can be positioned against a loudspeaker wall or ceiling mounting surface. The damping assembly optionally includes a clamp damper opposite the flange damper, or a peripheral edge damper at an outer perimeter edge of the loudspeaker housing. In an example, a loudspeaker system includes a low frequency first transducer and an array of high frequency transducers overlapping a front face of the low frequency transducer. In an example, the transducer array has an arcuate profile, and an axis of the array is non-coaxial with a central axis of the first transducer. |

1. A loudspeaker mounting assembly for attenuating acoustic vibration transmitted from a loudspeaker transducer to a loudspeaker mounting surface, the mounting assembly comprising:
a loudspeaker mounting frame including:
a body portion that is configured to receive a loudspeaker transducer;a substantially open front face with a perimeter edge; anda flange extending laterally outward from the perimeter edge, the flange including a room-facing side and an opposite transducer-facing side, wherein the transducer-facing side contacts an outer surface of the loudspeaker mounting surface when the loudspeaker mounting assembly is installed at the loudspeaker mounting surface; and a damping assembly including:
a clamp damper that extends from the body portion of the mounting frame and is configured to impinge on an inner surface of the loudspeaker mounting surface substantially opposite the flange; anda flange damper on the transducer-facing side of the flange, the flange damper extending laterally outward from a location at or near the perimeter edge of the open front face, wherein the flange damper is substantially wedge shaped, and wherein the flange damper includes a thicker portion near the perimeter edge of the open front face and the flange damper tapers toward an outer edge of the flange. |
