The present invention provides polypeptides having phospholipase C activity and polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides. Also provided are nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides as well as methods of producing the polypeptides. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method of reducing the phospholipid content in an oil composition using the polypeptide having phospholipase C activity as well as other relevant uses of the polypeptide.

1. A polypeptide having phospholipase C activity, selected from the group consisting of:
a. a polypeptide having at least 70% sequence identity to the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 3; b. a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide that hybridizes under low stringency conditions with (i) the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, ii) the cDNA sequence thereof or iii) the full-length complement of i) or ii); c. a polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide having at least 70% sequence identity to the mature polypeptide coding sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 or the cDNA sequence thereof; d. a variant of the mature polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 3 comprising a substitution, deletion, and/or insertion at one or more positions; and e. a fragment of the polypeptide of (a), (b), (c), or (d) that has phospholipase C activity.
