A method of separating water from an organic liquid from a composition containing water and the organic liquid, comprising adding to the composition a polyol that causes separation of the composition into at least two phases, wherein a first phase is aqueous and the second phase is organic, and wherein the polyol is selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, 2,3-butanediol, 1,4-butanediol and glycerol. |
