[Class 12 (ii).] Channels in vehicle-axle bearings.-In an axlebox having a closed, annular, one-piece brass 2, lubricant raised by a blade 16 rotating with the journal 15 passes through ducts 12, 13 to slots 3, 4 in the brass and runs down the upper inclined surfaces 8 of the slots so as to drip freely from the edges 9 on to the journal. The part 10 of the inner surface of the brass in the vicinity of the edge 9 is tangential to the journal so as to form a wedge space 11.</p> |
