A gas-liquid cylindrical cyclone (GLCC) separator 10 comprising a vessel having a cylindrical side wall, an inlet 13 located between a gas and a liquid outlet 19,15, means for reducing gas carry under to the liquid outlet, wherein the inlet 13 is inclined towards a lower end 17 of the vessel and the reducing means is arranged within an interior space of the vessel to affect a tangential flow of an incoming liquid-gas mixture, the reducing means comprising a plurality of vertical baffles 40 extending radially inwardly from the cylindrical side wall at the lower end of the vessel and the baffles are spaced apart so that the inner edges define a void extending along length of the baffles. The reducing means may comprise a horizontal plate 31 coaxial with the vessel, spaced apart from and above the baffles, held in place by welded support arms 33 and with a dimension of 0.25-0.86 of a vessel diameter. The baffles 40 may have a height of 1.5 times and a width of 20% of the vessel diameter wherein the lower ends are located above the liquid outlet 15.
