The invention relates to a method for operating a terminal device (1) that can be operated in a telecommunication network, preferably a mobile radio network, and that has a display device (2, 3) for optically and/or acoustically displaying information and at least one input device (4, 5, 6) for acquiring information. The display device is adapted to display event-controlled and/or content-controlled information and the input device (6) has at least one key that facilitates a more extensive use of event-controlled and/or content-controlled information when pushed. In order to improve and simplify the use or manageability of the terminal device with a view to a more extensive use of event-controlled or content-controlled information, especially for seniors and/or inexperienced users, the key (13, 14, 15) is adapted to display at least one possible use, available in context with the event-controlled and/or content-controlled information, for a more extensive use of said event- and content-controlled information. The invention further relates to a terminal device (1) for use in a telecommunication network, preferably a mobile radio network, comprising a display device (2, 3) for optically and/or acoustically displaying information and at least one input device (4, 5, 6) for acquiring information. The display device is adapted to display event-controlled and/or content-controlled information and the input device (6) has a key that facilitates a more extensive use of event-controlled and/or content-controlled information when pushed. The key (13, 14, 15) is adapted to display at least one possible use, available on the part of the terminal device in context with the event-controlled and/or content-controlled information for a more extensive use of said event-controlled and/or content-controlled information.
