A method of treating a digestate material, comprising the steps of obtaining an anaerobically produced digestate, exerting pressure on the digestate to remove water from the digestate to form a low-water digestate 15, and including the further step of filtering the low-water digestate filtered through a filtration means 20. In one embodiment the filtering step 20 takes places through two successive filtration means, the second filtration means having a finer mesh size than the first filtration. There is preferably a pasteurisation step 10 prior to the formulation of the low-water digestate and a later deodorisation step 25. Preferably digestate is produced from a raw material comprising rye, sugar beet or maize. The final product may be used as a fertilisation product in horticultural use. |
