Analysing network performance of a network comprising network nodes with a method comprising: obtaining probe measurements s40 by sending probe test-messages via a path from a testing node to a first target node s41, and also by sending probe test-messages via a path from the testing node via the first target node to a subsequent target node s42, the probe measurements relating to a network performance characteristic (e.g. Round-Trip Time) in respect of the paths taken by the probe test-messages and probe response-messages associated therewith and being dependent also on local (internal) processing (e.g. slow-path processing) of the probe test-messages at the respective target nodes; comparing the probe measurements s43; and in dependence on the comparison, assigning a weighting in respect of the first target node indicative of whether it is deemed likely to be providing reliable s45 or unreliable s48 results (e.g. whether the Round-Trip Time is as expected e.g. shorter for the target node compared to that of the more distant subsequent target node s44); and determining a network performance analysis measure dependent on the probe measurements using the assigned weighting s47 or s49. Unreliable target nodes may not be included in determining the network performance. |
