A strainer (10) has a strainer body (12) with a width (W) and a height (H) and a serpentine cross-sectional profile (18). The height of the strainer body (12) defines a plurality of extending flow passages to strain fluid traversing the strainer body. The strainer body may include mesh, a perforated plate and a plurality of fused layers. Preferably the height (H) of the strainer body is smaller than the width (W) of the strainer body (12). The serpentine cross-sectional profile (18) may advantageously provide rigidity to a straining area. A fuel injector (400) may include the strainer (10) and a nozzle body (402) having a fuel circuit (408) defined therein. The strainer (10) may be integrally coupled to the nozzle body (402) to remove entrained particulate from fuel traversing the strainer (10) prior to the fuel reaching the fuel circuit (408). |
