A carton for food such as sandwiches comprising: lid panel 14 sealed to the body 12 with flanges, the lid panel defining a plane and comprising lid 24 frangibly connected to lip 26, where the lip is configured to be moved so to grasp a projection 28 on the lid to increase ease of opening. Preferably, lip has indentation 32 to aid folding out of the plane of the lid. Preferably, the lid panel is rectangular and folding lip is in upper corner opposite to lid hinge 15. Preferably, lid and lip comprise cuts partway through to aid delamination. Preferably, cuts 44 are discontinuous and are full depth 50% of the length. Preferably, carton is a paperboard blank and comprises a viewing window 16. A method of construction by making incisions to form a lid with a projection and a lip, and creating indentation to aid folding of the lip. |
