Apparatus or keyboard mounting system comprises a base 110, a slide plate 120, a latch 140 and a locking mechanism 160. The locking mechanism 160 is coupled to the slide plate 120 and in one embodiment engages, via a locking arm 162, an aperture in a housing of a keyboard 50 so as to lock the keyboard 50 to the slide plate 120. The latch 140 is coupled to the slide plate 120 and when engaged prevents the slid plate 120 sliding relative to the base 110. Base 110 comprises a plurality of detents 114 and the latch 140 includes at least one projection 140 which engages with the detents 114. One or more input elements are positioned on a front surface of the housing and the aperture is defined in a side surface of the housing. At least one compressible bumper 126 may be formed on a mounting surface of the slide plate 120. The bumpers 126 are positioned to directly or indirectly contact a rear surface of an object/keyboard being mounted. Also claimed is a method for mounting an object. |
