A vehicle has processors (ECU1-ECU4) for specific purposes e.g. braking, and radio receivers (R1-R5). The processors have program storage memories and when the programs require to be updated the new version is sent by radio (A, E5). A supervisory computer (C1) validates the new program and installs it when the vehicle stops. Correct operation is verified and the original program restored if necessary. <??>An Independent claim is included for an installation to update onboard vehicle calculator programs which includes fixed post transmitter Station Garage and on board supervisory computer and radio receivers. |
