High resolution picture elements or super-pixels are used to create an enhanced image for a user, based on the user's actual visual acuity and the desired enhanced image. Generated signals are delivered to the eye in a manner that image processing is carried out by the user's brain. |

1. A vision enhancement device for providing enhanced visual acuity, comprising:
a frame; at least one transparent substrate positioned within said frame; at least one digital camera positioned on said frame to capture a field of view; at least one sensor positioned on said frame for tracking eye movements; a processor and non-transient memory configured to store and execute a plurality of instructions, wherein, when said plurality of instructions is executed, said processor:
receives and processes data from the at least one digital camera and at least one sensor to determine characteristics of a user's eyes;based on said characteristics, executes a perception engine to determine a minimum set of pixel data;generates collimated light beams in accordance with said minimum set of pixel data; anddelivers the minimum set of pixel data to the user's eyes; and at least one energy source in electrical communication with said digital camera, said sensor, and said processor. |
