The invention relates to a dosing method comprising the supply of a biological sample of human stool comprising volatile short-chain fatty acids, addition of an internal standard to the sample with formation of a mixture, homogenisation until a homogeneous mixture is produced, heating of at least part of said homogenous mixture in a hermetic container with volatilisation of said fatty acids, injection of at least part of said gas phase into a capillary column, and measurement of the quantity of said volatile short-chain fatty acids and comparison of said measured quantities of said fatty acids with pre-determined values of corresponding quantities of fatty acids.
