Provided are porous titanate compound particles which can impart excellent fade resistance and moisture resistance when used for a friction material, a friction material composition, a friction member, and a method for producing the porous titanate compound particles. The porous titanate compound particles have a cumulative pore volume in a pore diameter range of 0.01 to 1.0 μm of 5% or more and are formed by binding crystal grains of a titanate compound, the porous titanate compound particles being characterized in that a treatment layer that includes a hydrophobic surface treatment agent is formed on a surface. |
