Provided are an application control method and device. The application control method and device can monitor the channel quality of a current communication channel used by a mobile terminal; when it is monitored that the channel quality changes, the mobile terminal is controlled to automatically switch an operating state of a first application which is running at present, and the operating state of the first application which is running at present is determined on the basis of the channel quality. That is to say, when the channel quality changes, the operating state of the first application appropriately changes as well. For example, when the channel quality changes from good to bad, a video call application which is currently running on the mobile terminal can be controlled to switch to a voice call application, then an operator does not need to autonomously judge the video call quality or manually control the video call application, and automatic control over the application is achieved. |
