354,894. Glasshouses; windows. FOULDS, W., 104, Melton Road, Thurmaston, near Leicester. May 29, 1930, No. 16601. [Classes 20 (i) and 20 (iii).] Poultry houses, greenhouses, aviaries, pavilions or the like are provided with windows adapted to be opened from a vertical position by an up-anddown movement along a continuous path to a position within the structure, so that the building may be opened wholly or in part thereby. The window may comprise three sections 1 hinged together and adapted to slide on trunnions in channel guides 2 extending into the roof. One or more of the sections may have handles and fastenings or holding devices such as a chain 12 and hooks 14 or bolts or the like for suitable opened positions. The hinge pins between the pairs of sections may be detachable to allow removal of the sections. Gaps may be formed in the runway to allow the trunnions to swing through and the sections to open as a fanlight. Weather shields mounted on blocks may be provided for the edges of the guides and the trunnions may be adapted to rest against these when the sashes are opened as a fanlight. The hinged joints of the sashes are rabbeted and bevelled and may be faced with metal to shed water. The windows may open by sliding into a space beneath the floor and chain cable or other operating gear may be provided. The glass or other transparent material is preferably inserted in grooves in the sashes and supported by rubber covered studs 30. |
