There is provided an aerosol-generating device (10) comprising a power supply (26), at least one heater (16), and a cavity (14) for receiving an aerosol-generating article (40). The device (10) further comprises a first electrode (28) and a second electrode (30) spaced apart from the first electrode (28) so that at least a portion of an aerosol-generating article (40) is received between the first electrode (28) and the second electrode (30) when an aerosol-generating article (40) is received within the cavity (14). The device (10) also comprises a controller (24) for controlling a supply of power from the power supply (26) to the at least one heater (16) for heating an aerosol-generating article (40) when an aerosol-generating article (40) is received within the cavity (14). The controller (24) is configured to terminate the supply of power from the power supply (26) to the at least one heater (16) when a measured electrical load between the first electrode (28) and the second electrode (30) exceeds a predetermined threshold. |
