The safety shut valve (1) has a biased locking bolt (36) for protecting a valve slide (4) in an open position. A remotely operable release medium (62) is provided for releasing the valve slide independent of gas pressure. An actuator (64) is provided for applying a restoring force (F). The locking bolt is operatively connected to an actuating element (66) such that the restoring force is transmitted on the locking bolt. An independent claim is also included for a method for shutting off a gas line by a safety shut valve. |
