发明名称 Improvements in and relating to the manufacture of rubbered fabric endless transmission belts and the apparatus therefor
摘要 361,060. Making driving belts: DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, and BARTLE, H., of Dunlop Rubber Co., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, Birmingham. Oct. 8, 1930, No. 30098. [Class 80 (i).] Apparatus for making endless transmission belts from a strip of rubbered fabric comprises a drum 10 which is driven by a chain 18 from a countershaft 19 driven from an electric motor 16 through a chain 22 and clutch 24 and on which the fabric strip M is helically wound from a spool 38 carried by a member 34 traversed on a threaded shaft 33 driven by the chain 18. The convolutions of the helix preferably overlap slightly, and a projection 67 on the member 34 co-operates with a stop 66 on a rod 64 connected to the clutch mechanism so as to disengage the clutch when a predetermined length of strip has been wound. One or both of the elements 66, 67 is or are adjustable, and the member 34 is provided with a handle 73 adapted to release it from the threads so that it can be traversed independently. When the belt is required to have a covering of other material, such material BM, Fig. 3, is laid on the drum as shown, after the winding of the fabric M is completed. The fabric M and BM is then rolled sidewardly into the form of an annulus of circular cross-section by pulling over the drum a ring 47 to which one end of each of a number of uniformly-spaced flexible strips 44 arranged in longitudinal grooves in the drum is secured, the other end 45 being secured to the drum. The ring 47 is normally held by clips 48 and is pulled over the drum by means of claws 50 pivoted on a carriage 53 movable on rods 54 and connected to a fluid-pressure operated piston 58 by a chain 56. The return movement of the carriage is effected by a weight 60. At the end of the rolling operation the annulus is disposed around a ring 70, Fig. 3, on the drum, which ring is then detached and fitted into members 71, 72, Fig. 4, to form a mould in which the final shaping and other operations are performed. Specification 337,176, [Class 80 (i), Gearing, Belt &c.], is referred to.
