[Class 140.] Relates to disc closures for bottles &c. of pasteboard &c. In order to prevent detrimental effects consequent on the warm moist atmosphere employed in sterilization &c. the discs or the sheet material from which they are cut are treated with cellulose acetate. The discs &c. may be steeped in a solution of cellulose acetate in acetone, or they may be placed between sheets of cellulose acetate and subjected to heat and pressure. Casein may be added to the solution of cellulose acetate, with a plasticizer. such as castor oil.</p> |
