RANDOM LASER

A random laser and a manufacturing method thereof are disclosed. The random laser (1) hereby described has a sandwich structure of an optical active medium (2) surrounded by uneven scattering surfaces (3) that enclose said optically active medium. The scattering surfaces show defects or pores (31) rendering a porous and /or rough surface allowing back-scattering. Said uneven surfaces may be be produced by depositing particles that generate pores when agglomerate in a random deposition or by introducing defects on the surfaces by any suitable process. The laser resonator may comprise feedback components (3) comprising TiO2 nanoparticles (32) and pores (31) between them resulting in random laser emission (4) through these components in case the random laser is pumped by light (5). The random laser emission comprises multi-mode emission with narrow linewidth peaks at random frequencies.
