The foreign object sensing device 3 is sandwiched between the upper 4 and lower 5 elements, which may be a cover plate 4 and a base plate 5. The housing may have an inner hollow volume 7, in which the foreign object sensor parts 3 are disposed. The housing may form part of a primary energy transfer system for wireless charging of a vehicle. The housing may be encased within a paving slab 2, for example being embedded in concrete, fiber-reinforced plastic, or integrated into a charging pad.
