Ensuring data consistency in an automation system

The automation system [4] has a communication bus that allows a computer [12], eg a mobile programming unit., to be connected. This allows a user to enter project data that is converted into cycle data used to control the process. Coupled to the bus are controllers[5,6] that have memories [2,3] for project data and memories [8,9] for cycle data. The units have test facilities to ensure that project data is consistent with the cycle data.
