The use is described of polymers which contain, in copolymerized form, an α-olefin, a vinyl ester and an ester of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid as an additive for fuel oils and lubricants and in particular as a cold flow improver in fuel oils. In addition, the fuel oils and lubricants additized with these polymers; and also additive packages comprising such polymers are described. |

1. A polymer, comprising, in copolymerized form:
monomers M1, M2, and M3 of formulae: wherein R1 is H or C1-C40-hydrocarbyl; R2, R3, and R4 are each independently H or C1-C4-alkyl; R5 is C4-C10-hydrocarbyl; R6, R7, and R8 are each independently H or C1-C4-alkyl; and R9 is C1-C20-hydrocarbyl; a molar proportion of M1 is from 0.60 to 0.98; a molar proportion of M2 is from 0.01 to 0.20; and a molar proportion of M3 is from 0.01 to 0.20; M2 and M3 are in the polymer in random distribution; and wherein a viscosity of the polymer is from 10 to 1000 m2/s at a temperature of 120° C. as determined according to DIN 51562. |
