A method for operating an engine, comprising: adjusting, via an electronic controller, heating to a charge air inlet side of an air-to-air charge air cooler (CAC) by adjusting a valve coupled with the engine responsive to an operating condition to heat charge air flowing through the charge air inlet side of the air-to-air CAC with liquid coolant while ambient air flows across the air-to-air CAC to cool charge air flowing through the air-to-air CAC, the adjusting heating including increasing a temperature of the charge air entering the charge air inlet side of the air-to-air CAC in response to an increased condensate formation within the air-to-air CAC.
