A method of transporting liquefied breathing gases in underground mines, comprising: providing a source of liquefied breathing gases at a fixed location above ground; providing a conduit system that extends within a mine shaft to a work space below ground, wherein the conduit system includes an outlet positioned in the work space and the conduit system extends from the source of liquefied breathing gases to the outlet; delivering liquefied breathing gases through the conduit system; vaporizing the liquefied breathing gases at the outlet of the conduit system; providing an exhaust conduit system that extends from the work space; liquefying exhaust gases from the work space; delivering the liquefied exhaust gases through the exhaust conduit system to a location above ground downstream of the work space and remote from the work space; vaporizing the liquefied exhaust gases at the location above ground; and exhausting the vaporized exhaust gases to atmosphere from the location above ground.
