Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for an integrated user interface an interface that receives user input through the user interface. User selection input received through the user interface is used to sequentially update a selection register and sequential user selections are differentiated within the user interface based on their status within the selection register.

receiving, via a processor, a first user input selecting a first data set; updating a selection register, via a processor, to identify the first data set as a current selection; after receiving the user input selecting the first data set, receiving, via the processor, a second user input selecting a second data set; updating the selection register, via the processor, to identify the second data set as the current selection and to identify the first data set as a first previous selection; after receiving the user input selecting the second data set, receiving, via the processor, a third user input selecting a third data set; updating the selection register, via the processor, to identify the third data set as the current selection, to identify the second data set as the first previous selection, and to identify the first data set as a second previous selection; and invoking a command, wherein the command uses the first data set and the second data set as operands.
