The purpose of the present invention is to provide a binder for a power storage device electrode that, even when used as a binder in an electrode of a power storage device, has an excellent adhesiveness, allows for an improvement in the flexibility of the resulting electrode, and has a high durability against electrolytes. The purpose of the present invention is also to provide a binder for a power storage device electrode that satisfactorily retains adhesiveness between active materials in a long-term cycle, results in a storage battery that has a small irreversible capacity and a small resistance, and allows for the production of a high-capacity storage battery having excellent output characteristics. Furthermore, the purpose of the present invention is to provide a composition for a power storage device electrode, a power storage device electrode, and a power storage device that use the abovementioned binder for a power storage device electrode. Provided is a binder for a power storage device electrode, said binder containing a polyvinyl acetal resin that has a hydroxyl group-containing constituent unit represented by formula (1), wherein the proportion of hydroxyl group-containing constituent units having a chain length of 1 is at most 25 wt% relative to all of the hydroxyl group-containing constituent units, and the quantity of hydroxyl groups is 30-60 mol%. |
