An endoscope device 1 having: a light-emitting element 13; a rolling shutter-type imaging element 11 that alternately switches between an exposure period during with a plurality of lines are exposed and a read period during which an imaging signal for each line is sequentially read from the plurality of lines; and a control unit 21. The control unit 21: controls the light-emitting element 13 so as to change irradiation times for light from the light-emitting element 13 during the read period; and corrects the imaging signals from the imaging element 11 by using gain processing, when there is a difference in the amount of light emitted from the light-emitting element 13 during two read periods on either side of an exposure period as a result of control by a light emission control unit.
