LOCAL QUANTUM DOT OPTICS

Embodiments of a local optic (300) using quantum dots are described. A local optic (300) includes an optical source (304) on a substrate (302), a housing (306), and a film (308) that includes quantum dots. The housing (306) is designed to fit around the optical source (304) and has a cross-sectional area along a plane parallel to a surface of the substrate. The film (308) is designed to sit on top of the housing (306) and has a substantially similar cross-sectional area to the cross-sectional area of the housing (306).
